The Program

"Hymn for the Sahara" is a 3 day festival under the stars in the desert of south Morocco.

During this festival, we celebrate nomadic heritage and world music. Next to this we will host the 3rd edition of the Peace Caravan promoting peace and stability in the Sahara and Sahel. You can relax in the dunes, listen of music & poetry, dance under the moon and enjoy art or participate in workshops about the fragile environment of the desert. Music and dance

Dance with us under the stars to the rhythms of the desert! From local traditional dance performances to international musicians like Oum, Tinariwen, or Aziz, there is something for everyone’s taste. During the festival Tinariwen will launch their new album that was recorded a few month ago at the festival site. The full line up will be announced soon with more then 20 groups preforming.

Art, Poetry and local Products

Celebrate with us the nomadic lifestyle and get stunned by this rich cultural heritage. The festival is a platform for local artists to present their art and craftsmanship. Discover vibrant hand-woven Boucherouite carpets made by the women of the region, admire the skills of local painters, listen to poetry around the fire and spoil yourself with local Moroccan dishes.

Artists

Our main acts are Oum who had already composed a song in tribute to the oasis of Mhamid El Ghizlane, Aziz Sahmaoui whose gnaouies and spiritual songs closely resemble the rhythms of the desert and finally the group that represents the majestic music of the Sahara, Tinariwen. Next to this top line up many other countries will be represented through artist, artisans, designers and researchers in the fields of Art and Culture.

Parades and races

To recall the ancient cultural heritage of the Sahara, Taragalte includes a variety of activities such as camel parades. You’ll be amazed by the force and roaring sound of this noble inhabitants of the desert!

Workshops and Talks

During the day, festival-goers will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and talks to different topical themes such as the fragile environment, migration, the role of culture and many more. Jump into the conversation or listen to expert discussions.
